The Box evokes a child’s specimen box, in which insects, small stones or other “treasures” are kept in secret to be brought out for play. The simple specimen box retains its magic, undiminished by technology or electronic media. The Box is also basic in its construction. However, unlike an actual specimen box, The sculpture is 24 feet high, 18 feet wide and 4 feet deep. The specimens are a cross-section of individuals who happen upon the artwork.
